If big game is what you are after, we are happy to help. F/V Josey Wales is registered as a commercial tuna fishing vessel. We participate in this federally regulated fishery and are registered with a charter boat designation allowing us to take charter passengers for hire. These are long days far offshore and require commitment, participation, and hard work from our guests. Some trips include the ultimate experience. There is nothing like a giant blue fin tuna fish.
We also offer shark fishing adventures. Maine waters have Porbeagle, Thresher, Mako, and plenty of blue sharks. Offshore trips also offer the opportunity for some traditional ground fishing, primarily pollock and haddock.
Our captain is a registered Maine Guide who has been fishing for striped bass in New England for over 40 years. We can take you afloat or afoot with a fly rod, or float live baits into the night for nocturnal trophy fish. This can be a fun family affair. Kids enjoy filling the live well with cooperative mackerel and then in turn experience a large striped bass inhaling their bait fish. Full and half day options are available. We can work with you on a shorter evening or morning chase to fit your schedule. These fish tend to be closer to home and offer some flexible trip options depending on the time of year. Fly casting instruction is included for those looking to learn. We can certainly show you how to chuck it.
We have a sturdy, seaworthy downeast boat. It cleans up well and has a large spacious deck. We have had a number of creative requests for unique adventures for family and friends. We know the islands of Casco Bay very well and can help you create an experience for your family vacation, couples' night out, executive team retreat, book group, cocktail hour, bachelor/bachelorette event or wine and dine outing to an island venue. Give us a ring and we can customize an experience for your group.

It is best to just call us and discuss your timing and expectations. We are generally very flexible and aim to design an outing that is memorable for your party. 207-712-0088
We enjoy a family affair and love to expose todays youth to outdoor adventures. Happy to work with you on an age appropriate plan. In Maine children under 12 years old are required to wear personal flotation devices. We will just need to plan for having the right sizes aboard for you.

Our Charters are typically half or full day excursions. 4 hrs or 8 hrs and priced competitively for the itinerary we decide on. Longer and shorter events are certainly negotiable. We can facilitate up to 6 passengers and enjoy designing an outing that meets the needs of your group.
We will provide all of the bait and appropriate tackle. You are welcome to bring a favorite fly rod or terminal tackle rod and reel. We will provide a giant cooler with ice, soft drinks and water. We can also provide a bag lunch or dinner depending on the time of day. You should prepare for likely Northern New England weather changes. That means pack some layers from shorts and a t shirt to a second fleece or jacket that cuts the wind. If you pack your rain gear, it likely won't rain, so bring it. Deck shoes that can get wet and have good footing make sense. Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat are highly recommended.

Your captain has been on the water since before he was born. That's right my mother went into labor with me while blue fishing on long island sound. We have been on the chase for over 50 years and think we know our way around. Having been a customer of many many chartered fishing events we understand that the catching is only part of the experience. We want you to have a good time and will work hard for that to happen. Your comfort and safety are our responsibility. The captain holds a 100-ton, 100-mile US Coast Guard captain's credential. He has a marine first aid and CPR certification. He is also trained and certified in cold water survival & emergency response training and is a trained fishing vessel emergency drill conductor. Fishing vessel Josey Wales is a fully insured and USCG inspected commercial fishing vessel.
We know the fish are already wet and they don't mind a little wind. Our boat will handle more water than anyone wants to be in, but that does not make it a good idea to take a trip in miserable weather. We operate under a safety first, comfort next policy. We will not take a trip that puts you in danger from the weather. We can simply reschedule. We are willing to get a little wet and chilly if you are. We will make fair weather calls with your input. Captain has the final say.
